Shimano Corsair 301
« on: October 02, 2005, 04:01:24 PM »

I've just picked up one of these reels and wondered about the level wind?
Should this disengage completely when casting or move back and forth.  Mine just stays fixed in one position!

Any ideas?

Colin

not all baitcasters have a line guide and worm gear that move back and forth when line is leaving the reel either casting or under drag. corsairs are mid range quality/performance shimano reels. most of the newer versions that are priced over 150.00 bucks have line guide travel in both line in and line out settings. I'm not entirely sure if the corsair was designed to have "both way travel" of the worm gear but you can call berry's bait and get the shimano service number in delta and ask a tech at shimano.
