Rodney, thanks for the info. I don't know what happened with the enter key. Nice to chat with you this AM. I'm sure you were a little tired after getting up early and spending all day fishing. The number of anglers on the system was a little overwhelming today. After leaving you at the river I packed it in for the day and will wait for the pressure to drop.  Coho fishing has not been great this year and the numbers at the hatchery seem to be showing the same trend. However, there appears to be no shortage of springs.

Well - we checked out the river today - this time with the drift rod.  Boy - were there a ton of people out there!  Hooked lots of fish and lost at least one coho.  Beauty chrome fish - approx. 8 pounds.  Took the wool, gave massive head shakes - then hit the fast water and broke my 8 lb. leader like it was fly tying thread.  Hooked three "promising" fish - but lost them all due to other anglers casting over my line - even after I've shouted "FISH ON!".  What the heck?  It didn't seem to sink in.  In fact - one guy thought he had a fish so he was fighting my fish on my line!  Maybe he didn't understand English?   :P  Of course - I lost the fish.  Boy - I can't believe how many guys are out there who have no idea what they're doing!   >:(

Hooked into lots of springs and saw some "mature" pinks as well.  I have to admit - it seems slower (for coho) than last year at this time.  Saw very few coho landed today.

FM, it's called Thanksgiving weekend on the Vedder. ;)

We saw something even more interesting today. Fishersak and I witnessed a chinook being hooked beside us. The fish ran to the other side of the river, which was then netted by one of the anglers across from us. He then released the fish for this guy. :o

Yah today was a tottaly beak fest out there. At the end of the day when i tried peach from the rv camp grounds side cuz i saw lots of springs hooked and i was despreat!!!!! :P everyone was fishing with about triple the depth on their float than the water. . .No suprise they were hooking fish on the end of all their drifts. Dont people realise whats going on there ::) Oh and i wish i did a count of full fraser rigs and the people who had these rigs on if seen at seabird so many times. There needs to be some kinda sign on every tree advising people thats not a good method for the vedder lol.

As for the coho maybe they are also on strike. 8)

I had a really busy day flyfishing the Chedder yesterday.  A lot of fish in one of the spot that I scouted last month.

Fishing Stat:
9 Pinks (all released and unharmed)
5 Chum (all released and unharmed)
7 large spring (long line release -- ie. I broke them off.)
3 wild coho (all released and unharmed)
4 Hatchery coho (all nice and silver so they were bonked) 8)

Scouting for a place to fish before the season starts really pays off.

I had a look at Peach Road Gong Show after I finished fishing.  It looks like a very stressful way to fish.

I fished up past the prison camp.  With a friend.  Fishing was slow.  He hooked into a 30 pound boot first released to go the river.  THen he kept to jacks a little coloured for his smoker.  I hooked into a real nice crome spring had a nice fight and a rodeo release about 3feet from shore  as my friend was coming to help me land it.  After that had a couple on that broke off.  went home about 10:30.  I would have met Rod for theirst time yesturday if my friend did not insist on meeting in chilawake

PistolPete, good decision on going to the canal as Coho fishing on the Vedder was very slow. Lots of chinook and jacks to keep one entertained. Keeps your hook setting up to snuff for steelhead.

Duno bout u guys.. I found it quite fun.. I wentUP river.. found a spot and hiked down a steep hill.. lol i have no idea how I did not fall.. i hook about  6 springs.. the current is awfully fsat there.. and the fish are ALL atleast 30 pounds + I found the secret wool colour and just couldnt stop hooking springs till they ate all my hooks and I ran out of wool and went home.. oh man I have a sore hand :) I also saw a guy land a coho..  I tried using roe but the current was just too fast.. and by the time i found slower water.. I was out of roe  :) btw.. at the spot I was at.. the only people were prolly about a 1km downstream :P some guys were near us but they left soon after one of them ripped their waders and were totally soaked :P next time im bringing my 25 pnd leaders :P

Fortunatly after lunch at cookies I hooked into some fish. Springs though...lots of them. They are surprisingly clean as well. Didn't see much in the way of coho, maybe one.  I wonder where they could be. ???
