something different, nooksack river
« on: February 18, 2006, 06:44:21 PM »

Well i just couldn't get up to battle the Vedder on a Saturday again..So called a buddy and decided to hit the nooksack for some fly fishing grinding....checked out a couple spots..and decided to fish this one...I being the nice guy i am, start at the top of a hole and am working my way down..old bill decides to cut in on my run and starts tossing out his fly...before i know it..."Fish on"...and if that's not bad enough i have to put my gear down and go help him get it in and then release it...little dolly but a fun tossel...we hit the run pretty good and headed down stream for a bit, came back up and a couple guys were in our spot...(that's a crowd on the nooksack)...4 guys fishing a 200 + yard run....we moved up below them and they landed a little 5 pd. steelie...so not a bad day all in all...i got skunked for the umpteenth time..oh well..was a good day and a nice change of pace from the battle of the Vedder...

Finally something besides Veder, Veder, Veder; Thankyou! What does it cost for an American licence these days.

Where were you fishing of the Nooksack. I see it is in Bellingham area and has 3 forks.  Looks like some nice water.

not sure what exactly the license fee's would be for you but it would be a lot less then what i pay for a Canadian one.. :'( the nook goes up quite a ways, the two main forks i know of are the south and north..i was fishing the north but was talking to a couple guys that said the south was fishing pretty decent right now too...it's always pretty chocolaty down by Lynden and ferndale but it gets better the further up you go...some really nice spots without any of the huge crowds..of course that's also because the nook has been so heavily netted that there just isn't the fish that there once was...but it's still a nice change of pace, especially if your looking for some nice water and not many if any people..

Hey, do you ever fish the Nootsack around Acme?
I have looked at the waters there and thought they look "fishy"
Not sure what branch it is, but always wanted to give some of the runs in the area a try.

The dolly that you released would appreciate not being layed in the rocks prior to having it's picture taken. Abrasions and slime removal can cause severe fungus problems and in severe cases certain death.
