Line Wt for 4pc Rod
« on: March 17, 2006, 10:55:54 PM »

Is it true that for a 4pc rod that you would want to step up one line wt for the fly line? I was told that the joints on the rod actually stiffens the rod up a bit, making a heavier line more suitable (i.e. 4wt rod with 5 wt line).

i will defer to the more experienced guys but i've not heard that at all. the new rods are as flexable as the 2 pieces and easier to carry.  i have heard that at one time that was a problem but not for a while now.

Most of the time i load a heavier line on evry rod. You get more distance but less accuracy. Number of pieces is irrelivent
