Undercover fish cop's
« on: April 13, 2006, 06:52:04 PM »

Fishing a hole on the vedder today and two guys come in and start fishing aswell. After about an hour... out come the badges checking my gear and licence....I think they should be doing this alot more frequently.. I was glad to be checked that way and told them that..

If they are undercovers, then how do people know how frequently they perform these tasks and how do we judge whether they are doing it enough or not? ;D

Undercovers are not uncommon on the Vedder.

I think that would be a great idea as well!!!  ;)  That way, one just never knows who they are fishing beside!! ;D  I am sure that there are quite a few that would object to this, and say that it was a bit like baiting!!! :o  Eventhough, I don't agree with that!! ;D

They were there for an hour and checked only 3 ? In my opinion they would be more effective if they just walked the river carrying their rods and checking fishermen as they go.

Saw a fisheries officer on the Cap who was undercover who DID NOT impress me.  Fished with his spinning reel upsidedown, didn't know the difference between a steelhead and a coho, and worse yet left his truck unattended with the windows down and shotguns strapped to the roof!

He should definitely change his career!

Was checked at the Stave a few years ago by an undercover guy, really nice to guy who chatted for a bit, asked for licences (I was 15 and didn't ned one), checked hooks for barbs by stabbing them into his fleece sweater to see if it caught, said good bye and went on his way.

I was fishing with dad at the time and was glad to see some form of enforcement, and he did  his job well without being rude.
