As I had to tear off to attend a BC Liberal Presidents Council in Richmond as an alternate for the local president I just dumped the bottles at home. Then my wife suggested the lawn should be cut but she agreed to do it if I started it. As usual I was late getting away and I arrived 1 hour later to meet fishersak, Chrome My Kiss and Rodney for a supper engagement.
We had a enjoyable outing and was good to sit down with friends and talk about.... fishing of course. I think they were impressed with the good 40 year old knobbly wobbler spoons I brought along and tell stories about. Rodney gave me a package from Joey who if you remember I found his Maple Leaf Drennan Bobber with his telephone number on it a while back. Actually I did not relate when I found it I had to go back a second time to retrieve it. I had spotted it from the far side under some rip rap but when I crossed over I could not find the spot. The next day on another fishing trip I marked the spot better and found it after 30 minutes of searching.
Anyway the package Joey gave me contained enough for a few double doubles and 5 DVD of some World Cup badminton matches, boy will I enjoy them. Thanks very much Joey for your kind letter and goodies. Rodney still has the MLDB so I hope he will get it to you soon.
As I was down to attend the Liberal meeting I slipped over to register but I was too late to do so or attend the reception so headed and found a hotel for a good night sleep.
Sunday I was able to register and enjoy the breakfast provided. I spent the next 6 hours listening to political talk and actually enjoyed the talk delivered by Gordon Campbell. I know we have many political stripes here on this forum but I find him an sincere man. Of course political office is a difficult job and you can not please everyone all of the time. We have to agree I think the Province is doing well but must not get into a political debate or forum here. I had an opportunity to talk with him for a minute or two but mostly small talk.
I did talk in a serious manner to a past MLA about the gravel issue and told him the truth that it was the causeway that causes the drop in water not the spin about low water conditions put out by some other agencies. Apparently there is another Liberal event in Prince Rupert later in the Summer that includes a fishing derby, now that one I would like to attend and show them I may not know much about politic but fishing watch out, I will show them who would be the Leader there.
Our riding donated a sizable amount to the party yesterday and because I was representing our riding I got a loud round of applause for that including thanks from the Premier but I was sort of embarrassed as I had not much to do with the latest fund raiser that raised a good piece of it. I was involved in a number of fishing issues and could not attend.
With the meeting over I headed back to the hotel for a nap and digest all the notes I made as I will have to file a report on the meeting for our MLA. A different type of journal.
After my nap headed out to near the airport and watch the planes land. Also walked along the North arm of the Fraser River wondering how many early springs are slipping by and will I intersept one on the May 1 opening.
It was during part of this walk I found a ladies purse dumped in the grass. As I checked through it every thing seemed to be there but the money. A purse like most ladies full of every thing but the kitchen sink.
I phoned her and was she ever glad to get my call. The makeup kit that was still there was worth alot of money she said. It had been stolen a week earlier she added.
I waited and watched more planes land as darkness approached and the lady came to claim her purse. She is a school teacher so I gave her my CVRCC card and asked her to check out are web page and give a talk to her students about keeping our environment clean. I asked her to also maybe let us know via our e-mail how it went. Her husband is a reporter for CKNW so I asked maybe he could do something on CKNW about a future cleanup for us. That I said, would be my pay for finding it.
It is now 10:20, I think I will go to the Casino here in Richmond and see if I can win a fortune and be as lucky as the lady was whose purse I found today.
Tomorrow, the start of another Journal of the fishing variety, I think, but who knows what is ahead for The Journal. A good Sunday evening to all, maybe when I check back I will be a Millionare but I would not bet on it.
