Merrit Area Lake/Rivers?
« on: May 16, 2006, 07:08:22 PM »

I'm heading to Merritt on the long weekend and was wondering if anyone knew of any rivers/streams that are good for fly fishing? Or lakes for fishing from shore.

Usually when I go to Merritt I have a boat however I will not have one this weekend but I would still like to get out fishing.

Rob.

Not quite in Merritt, but I had a bit of luck off the dock at Walloper Lake last year at the provincial park just off the Coq.  Its about half way between Merritt and Kamloops but there were a fair number of fish showing.

All streams in that region are subject to spring closure.

Thompson might be worth a look. Should be the possiblilty of hitting a caddis hatch and if not there are always lots of whitefish around.
