Well, I got back late Monday night barely making it on to the last ferry. I have been busy until now with work and family but am finally able to give a brief report.
I arrived in Port Renfrew early Friday afternoon. After unpacking and a few quick bevies we headed out for the afternoon/evening bite. We stuck close to home and fished East point as apparently the fishing had been productive there recently in the evening. We fished with anchovies and after a quiet couple of hours I was rewarded with a nice 18lb spring.
The next day we got off to an early 6:00AM start and decided to try for sockeye first thing as they were biting in the morning. We landed 4 nice fish and then it died off, as predicted.
Next we headed further off shore for halis. The first spot wasn't productive so we headed further out as the seas were almost flat calm with just a slight swell but no wind. The next spot was more productive and we landed our limiit of 4 halis quickly. We also picked up a yellow eye while we were jigging for halis.
We then headed back to shore to try for springs but had no further success that day. The next day we didn't fish and did some work on the cabin that is still under construction as well as vacuum pack our catch.
The final day we fished for half a day and my partner was rewarded with a 25lb spring. It was a great trip and as my fishing partner says "I've yet to be skunked in Renfrew".
