Vedder Wed.
« on: October 18, 2006, 10:06:40 PM »

Last night after a long LONG negotiation with my sister she finally agreed to do a few design projects for me and to pick up my kids at school.  Too bad she wouldn't go as far as dropping them off in the morning, so a late start again.  Met up with my buddy at 9:30 and went straight to fishing ground.  Saw a few splashes and hey they might be cohos lurking around.  Anyways, nothing for a long while until rain starts to fall.  We were quickly into catching fish 2 spring and over 5 cohos.  BUT... can you believe it ALL wild.  What is the chance of that???  We might have to go and buy 649.  Well  here is a pic of the last released coho.

Well I handled a lot more fish than all of you combined. ;D ;D  We were out distributing chinook carcasses from the Chilliwack Hatchery into a tributary of the Chilliwack River. It is all part of the Steelhead Recovery Program as we all know how carcasses are a important part of the life blood of any river system. These are chinook that have been spawned for the local egg take program.

Wow I didn't know that was ever done.  Interesting.  Is it ongoing or just this one time thing?

Going on for a few years, not sure how long. More will be done as the fish become available.

Absolutely, great way to recycle and return nutrients to the system.. Just mimicking natures methods anyway.
