curing salmon eggs?

looking for simple directions on start to finish curing roe can anyone help?

Gooey and e z rolling thank you so much that link helped alot! FishFreak i never realized there was so much time involved for the curing process but i guess good roe comes to those who wait? lol i'm gonna get the supplies tonight that i need and gonna start on the roe first thing in the morrning! oh one more thing! Am i able to freeze the roe when i'm done? how long does it keep in the freezer? or will it be ok in the fridge till steelhead season? again i appreciate how helpfull everyone has been on this topic and thank you very much!

it last longer then that in the fridge..2-3months. if u have enough borax

Most of the time, if I have roe left over, it never even makes it back to the fridge.  As long as theres lots of borax, its all good.  I remember fishing with a bag of roe that lasted 3 or 4 trips over 4 week period, and it spanked the Coho at the Chehalis each time.  Probably shouldnt try this in the heat of summer though.

I saw a guy catch a steelhead on the crustiest looking roe that was about 4 years old judging by the lable on the jar...sometimes I think we fishermen over think things too much...its not like a fish's brain is overly evolved  ;)
