Many thanks to Dale and his hatchery staff for putting on a very informative and entertaining open house on Saturday. The weather stayed good during the entire time thankfully. The hatchery tour took visitors through the entire trout raising process, finishing off with a spawning demonstration. The theatre had several presentations of stream habitat, giant salamander, tailed frog. The highlight of the day is definitely the fishing action at the trout pond. This year, a couple of ponds were built for the new learn to fish program designed to generate more interest in fishing among youngsters. Rainbow trout between 2 and 4lb were put in the ponds for the kids to catch. In the end, several rowdy locals got a hold of some kid fishing rods and started attempting to catch these trout as they had a freezer to fill. ;) Photos to come... The videos are even better, definitely should not be missed! ;)
