Backpacking Rods (Telescopic, Multi Piece)

This season i've decided to get a jump on buying gear before summer rolls around again. What i'm looking for is a trout rod in around the 6-7 foot length that compacts down to about 2 feet or less for easy transportation. One that's probably 3-4 piece might be better quality than a telescopic rod but I don't have much experience with either. It's going to be used on a little abu spinning reel. I'm not wanting to spend much, trying to keep it around $100 since the rod won't have very frequent use. If anyone has any recommendations for compact rods in that price class it would be great! Thanks.

don't know about spinning rods. fly rods for sure pack down to 4, 5 and 6 pieces...I only got 4 piece models now, easy to pack..

you may have trouble finding a 3-4pc rod in that price range. Maybe look into a 5' ultra light rod. 2.5' sections and unless you target fish over 6lbs regularly you should be fine.

Quantum has a 4 piece im7 travel rod .the rod is called Quantum Affinity Pack Rod ,this rod is rated at 6-14  .the lenghth is 6 1/2 feet . the fishing hole has it at $ 49.95 .

I use a cheapo fly rod, 8 feet , in 3 pieces. Then bring both the fly reel and spinning reel. Casts like Rocky 7's casting couch.

Definatly another vote for the quantum 4 piece.
I've used it for camping, and taken some decent trout on it, using an Abu Cardinaln spooled with 8 lb test. Set me back $80 though

I have a backpacking rod that works for both spinning and fly fishing, depending on which way you plug in the butt piece.  Eagle Claw made it.  Comes in an aluminum tube about a foot and a half long.  I don't know what they cost new -- I got it at a garage sale.

Mine is fiberglass--I see the new one is graphite and costs about 40 bucks.
