I hate repeating past mistakes.  I fished and walked downstream for a couple hours and on the way back, I had on a little orange wool.  I was not optimistic and just cast and cast and had it on too long.  At the last run before my car, I tried this slow moving water.  First cast into that area, the float is buried and the fish starts to take line.  It felt strong.  It comes to the surface and trashes.  It is big and chrome.  I reeled down and set the hook and the leader breaks.  I have to change my leader.  I have to change my leader........ :'(

Norm- I made those mistakes years ago when I first started fishing steelhead. I made it a point to check my leader every few casts. I've seen so many steelhead break off because of this mistake. Its tough enough to hook one and when you do, you do not want to see it break off.

Nice fish hookset, I saw you guys around 1:00pm above allison. I was fishing downstream from your friends dad for a while. The water was great today. I only had three hrs to fish but I thought for sure I would get one today..I was always expecting the float to go under but it was not to be.
