Had a late start to my day. Got up at 1030 hours and the sun was shining. Debated whether I should go fishing or stay home and do some chores. Guess which won out ?
After lunch I packed my gear into my car and headed out. Arrived at an upper run which I have driven by countless times and never fished it. Decided today was going to be the day. Bushwacked through the bush and was pleasantly surprised to find it empty of people. My day got off to an auspicious start when I accidently dropped half of my roe bags into the current.
Some steelhead is going to have a feast at my expense. In any event I rigged up and started with a roe bag. I fished it for approximately 15 minutes with nothing to show for it. I switched over to a procured prawn and within a few minutes I had a good takedown. Fish On ! Within a couple of minutes I had an approx. 10 lb. hatchery buck on the beach. It was beautiful fish with rosy cheeks and a pink band down the side. I decided to release it to figght another day. Too bad I didn't bring my digital camera. I couldn't believe I had the entire run to myself and not a soul in sight.
