Fishing Report for 2/23/2007
« on: February 23, 2007, 05:10:13 PM »

It has been quite a few days since I last fished. Took a week off but the water clarity was not the best.

Yesterday, I decided to head out with my buddy Dan after hearing from Chris G. that the water was fishable.

2/22/2007- The day started with a stop at McDonalds for 2 #2 breakfast combo. Need the energy to fight those fiesty fish or maybe just to keep warm. We got to the lower river around 7:15 a.m and noticed that our spot was void of anyone. I was on my third roebag when I felt the tip of my Sage bouncing up and down. I was not sure what I was doing but I failed to see the red top of the Drennan going down. The chrome fish broke water and started to run towards the middle where all the twigs and branches were. In the meantime, my buddy Dan was thinking where we were going to land this fish. The fish broke water the second time and I was still connected to it. I felt confident that it was well hooked. I spoke too quickly when it took another jump and my drennan flew all the way backward and I lost the fish!!!!! ??? ??? I was dissappointed but it was a good fight and the fish won this time.

It slowed right down after that and we left to try out different spots. We decided that Browne Rd would be our next target. When we got there, we did not see any cars parked around that area. This was not a good sign!! >:(

The water clarity was a bit murkier than where we started. I had a quick take but was too slow to set the hook. In the meantime, we saw 2 nice fish caught on the other side of the river. We left around 1:00pm.

2/23/2007- On the way to Chilliwack, it started to snow. Cars were going 110Kmh without thinking about the consequences should they stepped on their brakes. At one point it was quite thick and amazingly, the weather report says that it will be 8-10 degrees in the afternoon. We made our turn on #3 Rd and soon we were at our location. Today was not a good day for me as I slipped walking down a slippery slope with snow. I fished for about half an hour when I heard my buddy calling me. The tell tale sign of an arched rod told me that he had hook into a nice fish. As I was walking up to him, I took a picture of him playing his fish. Soon after, he landed a nice 10lb hatchery buck. As it was still early, Dan decided to let it go.

Same like yesterday, it slowed right down after the first fish. We tried Peach Rd and Lickman next but was not successful in locating anymore fish. We left around 12:30pm.

Sort of like " Back to the Future", Rodney.  Steelieman must have a time machine, now we just have to figure out where he was fishing to see him catch his fish this weekend  ;D
