DNE Balsa floats
« on: March 08, 2007, 03:36:14 PM »

How many of you are using the DNE balsa floats ? The two tubings at the top and bottom are poorly constructed and breaks easily. Here's a hint: simply snap them off. They're useless. You will find the float are alot more stable in the water.

I use both the foam and balsa. I do the same and cut um and file them down so there are no sharp edges...I'm using the foam ones now more as they take the tooth pick better..but the balsa works Ok with a pic too...

Started using them this season.I like them. They seem to fish well and the old school look matches well with my Avon RS. Had the bottom tube break off one so far.Shaving the toothpick with your scissors or knife helps the fit.I have some bobber stops but find them a pain since some of the holes I fish require dropping the float and hitting the bottom.Changing back and forth is easier with a pick. I have also been using the DNE hooks and like them as well.No barb to squish and they seem  to dig in and hold well.No "on and gones" yet with five steelies and several coho to hand.
