wilson rd snag fest
« on: September 26, 2007, 08:39:06 PM »

went there after work for a few casts and was blowen away by what i saw. i've read about the snaggers out there but never realy seen for my self, until today. these guys were casting staight across and just jigging straight back. getting a fish on every second cast. they were laughing at how good the fishing was. the only funny thing was they had their drags tightened down and every time they got a fish it would just snap there leader. then they would say how it must have been a big one to snap the line like that.(they were pinks) i should have said something but i was in a bad mood already and figured i better not go off. saw a nice black bear and got into some fish, so it wasn't all bad.

Don't give up...  I remember last year a fellow bonked a wild coho and ppl yelled at him before and after he bonked.  He throw the fish back in the river.  And I believe one member in this site jumped in and picked up the evidence...  Someone at the same time phone in DFO...  License plate was writen down and everything...

I did not follow up on it but it was good to see everyone working together trying to stop illegal activities...

As for snagging, I don't understand is that you can short float and those fish will bite; why do they have to snag; especially pink.  Fish are there.  You can see them.  Just short float your wool and you can pick at them just about every other cast.  What is even worese?  A guy fishing right below the bridge.  His friend on top of the bridge and directing him to cast pass the holding fish (chrome fish), then he tells him when to yank the rod back...

I look there yesterday, Sept. 26.   Many people fishing and most doing it appropriately.

I heard last weekend there was a lady there with binocs viewing catches for violations and harrassing people with fish without clipped fins.   Apparently she didn't know the rules for Chinook.
