Arrived at the lake at 2:00pm. Blew up the tube and strung up the fly in the parking area and walked a short distance to the lake. It was very quiet and I was alone on the lake aside from a few baby ducks and their mom. Tried casting a few different patterns in the shallows right off the start and had no takers or even small nibbles. I had my spincast with me as well and switched over for a few casts and got some nice heavy bites in the same shallow areas. Continued kicking through the middle of the lake after switching back to the fly and trolled back and forth through the deeper parts with no success. The lake is shaped like a horseshoe and the guy at Whistler Fly shop said to try the deep hole at the other end of the lake under the power lines for the best success, so I made a b-line to that end trolling all the way along. No bites and strong winds. Once at the deep end, I tried casting some different things and still nothing. Switched back to the spinner and instantly stated getting bites again but no takers. After 2 1/2 hours I thought about packing it in and started kicking back down to the other end, spinning the shoreline and trolling the fly simultaneously. About halfway down, hooked into a nice 18" that fought very well on the spinner- landed and released it. Shortly after, landed another that was a bit bigger and once on the apron it flopped back into the water. Nothing on the trolled Buick for the full length of the lake
. Made my way around the shoreline catching a few minnows on the way and saw one guy starting out on a tube. Told him my experiences and made my way back to the car. Great day to be out there and hope to get back there soon. Its a bit too shallow but the fish were a nice size so it evens out.
