Lake Fishing this weekend
« on: July 11, 2007, 11:42:12 AM »

I'm looking for a lower mainland lake to hit this weekend in my canoe, I'm wondering if any of them will still be producing with the hot weather.  Don't really want to go past Hope.  4x4 access is ok.  Any ideas?

Hey you've stolen my name!  ;D

I don't know where to fish, I just thought I posted a question without even knowing it!  I have always wanted to fish munroe lake on burke mountain, just don't think you could carry a canoe all that way.  Maybe a float tube though.

Maybe you should buy/borrow a float tube and I'll PM you with tons of ideas for backcountry. If not have fun anyways  ;D

Good fairly cold lakes for Canoe access  :

Foley Lake outside Chilliwack is a good canoe'r

Jones Lake is good , large but good ( smallish fish, kokanee, trouts and such)

Klahater or Squeah are right out side of Hope just north of Lake Of the Woods ( one member posted recently about Klahater having 2 - 5lb trout in it )

Thanks for the advice.

I'll take the float tube info if you don't mind PMing me.  It'll come in handy later.  I'm taking my cousin along this weekend, so that pretty much means we are in the canoe.

Buntzen seems to still be producing since my friend in the boat with me landed one, and another friend in his uboat had a lot of action and ended up landing 3.  This was just last weekend.

Weaver is also a lake that I've fished right through the summer, and can be quite nice  ;D

Harrison West.
Lookout Lake or Sunrise Lake.

The best lake to fish in the summer around here is Norton. Too bad its impossible to access (road closed) without a atv. That lake used to be amazing. The road in there the last couple of years was also a lot of "fun"

Nice ! I saw that one on the map and wondered what the deal is. Do you know how far up the road (driving)  you can get before you have to walk ? I want to go there but have no clue about the access. Whats the condition of the road like untill the stoppage and whats the best route to access from the LM ?

Thanks for the info on Foley, that's the lake I was leaning towards for this weekend, and a 20 min hike packing a canoe in 30 degree heat might be a little much.

Stave lake from the narrows to the power house is a good bet. Watch out for the wind though.

I wouldnt go to Stave in a Canoe.
Buntzen is allways cold so should fish well right through this hot spell.
