I was fishing at Trout Lake in Vancouver with some friends a couple weeks ago at the the east side of the lake at the pier/dock.
We were there at 6pm on a nice day and trying the usual stuff, we usually get the odd bull or sunfish (Yes Trout lakes has fish), but never the trout that everyone says that are there. An hour later my friend switch from floating to spinning and 10 min later, fish on. But this wasn't the regular bull or sunfish, it was the trout, and it was a fighter. A good 5 min later he had the fish near the pier and there was a crowd wanting to see the fish. As he was bringing it in, BAM, a dog jumped out and took a bite of the trout. After the dog bit the trout the hook lodged out of it's mouth and it sank to the bottom. We were so disappointed cause it was the first trout we hooked at trout lake ever for us.
After that we didn't catch anything cause the dog must have scared all the fish away.
I've been fishing at Trout lake for 10 years, since they've open it up to the dogs, at the north end of the lake, the dogs are scaring away all the fish's from that part. Dog owners don't realize that there are fishes there and make such a ruckus. I get the odd complaint from dog owners that I'm fishing on the north pier and it's their spot.
To bad they don't allow those floating waist tubes on the lake. That would make fishing so much better.
