Lower Fraser 14th - where are the pinks
« on: September 14, 2007, 04:28:36 PM »

Fished the river section around Patullo Bridge about 9 this morning and absolutely blank for me and every one. Are the pink runs over now? Time to head up river.

Well since the wife had the day off today I could finally go out and fish before I had to go to work. I had a bit of a late start as I had to pick up my new fly rod from the shop. Talk about great timing the rod comes in the day before I was going out. I hit duncan bar just before 11 am and the tid was in and I noticed a few fish rising. Talked to a few guys and they had said that the fishing was real slow. I made my way over to where I wanted to fish and waded out. Made a few cast with nothing but I got a good feel for the new fly rod. Then the action started. I was doing short quick strips in and they would just nail it. It was amazing how hard they would hit this fly. Had my limit to hand in the first hour but since two of the four were males I only kept the females. I stayed for 3 hours hooking 8 and landing 5. I did not see to many being hooked by the guys chucking spoons. Most people gave up pretty quickly. I only saw 4 other fish hooked and landed by the gear chuckers.

Fished the mouth of the coquitlam this afternoon from 3:30-5:30pm.  Got skunked.  Three boats and two other shore fishermen were also skunked.  May be time to move upriver.

I was at Duncan today also from around 09:30 to 13:00 chuching flies.  Bonked two chrome does and lost 3 or 4 others.  I think mayby 2 actully hit the fly and the others were flossed. What was the hot fly for you today Fly Guy?

Don't give up just yet guys. My record indicates that pinks will continue to arrive for a couple of more weeks although not in the quantity of last week. Keep trying.
