Any jig tiers out there?
« on: October 09, 2007, 06:01:37 PM »

Hey gang, I tied up a new jig pattern this weekend and got a fish on its first cast!!!!  I have been tying jigs for 4-5 seasons but this was my first bunny jig (oppoed to marabou).  it is way easier to tie than marabou so I am thinking about ordering a bunch.  I found a guy on ebay selling full pelts (sounds like a lot of fur to me) and as I need a wide variety of colors in both zonker and cross cut, I thought that sharing an order may make sense.

Anyone want to go in on a larger order of bunny strips?

Let me know.

Thanks

I'd be in. They work well for pike and walleye too  ;D

Thanks biff...any color requests?  I was thinking the typical salmon steelhead colors (purple, pink, cherise, black, canary yellow, chartruese, orange).

The ones I most commonly use are...

Canary yellow (cross cut & zonker)
Chartruse (cross cut & zonker) I probably use more chartruse than all other colors combined.
Purple (cross cut)
Pink (zonker)
Red (zonker)
Black (cross cut)

Never had any luck with orange.

Gooey, assuming the price will be better than the packages in the stores, I will take some.  The colors Biffchan listed sound good.  I have used them once in a while and sometimes have even been successful.

Hi Gang,

i will send a rfq for the colors mentioned and once I have that, I will get back to you witha cost.  Any idea on the amount you each want...I would say a 6inch cross cut is required to wrap 1 jig...if you could tell me how many inches you want or how many jigs worth, that would help.

thanks

I find that if you salt your shrimp they will become so tuff they can withstand just about anything....no need for a loop.  Do you fish roe (chunk or sac) with a jig?  It seems that would kill the action of the jig once yolk gets on the hair/feathers?!?
