well at least the weather was nice...cause the fishing sucked.  I hooked and lost a coho, released a chum and snapped off a spring.  I saw 1 coho bonked.  water in the lower river was really nice...maybe 2-3 feet vis, I was shocked that the river was so quiet.   didnt hear or see any real activity from 7-1.  where are all these big and plentiful fish everyone here is talking about?!?  4 trips now and I have 1 bonked coho and maybe another 3-4 connections...not really a good year n my books...not yet anyhow.

Kepp looking dude they're in in there! In two trips I have 9 jacks.4 springs one coho and one chum. And the river was blown yesterday to boot. It's driving me nuts that I can't get there more!

Yes it was tough slugging today but the fish seem to bite all day. If you find a good spot they will come by.

Nick and I fished one spot for nearly 3 hours and he got one unclipped coho and missed a couple.
We then moved and in a couple of hours Nick got a clipped coho and I got only two chances with both chinook jacks, good sizes ones too, hitting the beach. ;D ;D

Nick missed a few as well. They were in slow water and the take was very light.

Just came back from a look at the canal area and a few fish there, the anglers told me. Daniel of DNE fame said he had taken 2 unclipped coho on a blade. Thanks for the new Maple Leaf DNE Balsa float. ;D ;D

Another party had 3 fresh looking chum. Just as I left a terrific rain storm came through with a wind, hope the river holds.

Gravel is being taken from the Salwein Pit and Hydro Bridge area. I heard access is now restricted into the Hydro Bridge but did not check it out.

I thought that DFO didn't allow gravel extraction on pink years...

What the heck is going on with our government these days?

they are LIEberals Nicole.... Lieing to the public is what they do best... B.C. ... the land of LIEberal broken promises. You'll see how much $$$ is left for fish once the olympics blow over.... bet we see all kinds of crap like gravel extractions, mini power damns ...... more fish farms..... it's all coming folks.....

Just back from the flow and indeed a big rain storm was blowing through as I left. There was also a small forest fire up on the ridge that overlooked Yarrow which I'd say was going to get extinguished pretty quick. Water was the lowest I've seen it this fall and hard to beleive that it was blown yesterday as someone mentioned? :-\
I think we could really use some rain to bring in some new fish and give them some more back channel water to hang out in.
I arrived at about 1:30pm just as the sunny weather left and a few showers started. Fished my regular slow water areas with the trusty gold #6 Blue Fox and landed a beauty hatch buck and lost three others. My 7 foot spin caster Rhino rod is fun to land them on but does give those scrappy coho a fighting chance. Also took home a nice 7-8 lb jack spring.
Still amazed at the shape of the fish.
I stopped and tried a few casts at the pool just under the cable below the Vedder Crossing but no coho to be found only some big dark springs and chums. Didn't see anyone catching anything actually. Spoke with a couple of vacationing Americans there that had been up at the Ranger Run and several other spots up top early morning and they had a disappointing day especially seeing as they would have been happy playing anything as they weren't looking to keep any for dinner.
Speaking of which I think I'll go put the jack on the barbie. ;)

All governments lie Thomas. Remember NDP (No Damn Potential) and Bingogate ? The only party that has not lie to British Columbians is the Conservatives and that's because they were never elected. (as far as I can remember)

I believe the fire may just be slash burning.

A clay slide slump put the river out yesterday for a short time only.

In my opinion we donot need more rain as there is plenty of water for the fish to move through. More rain will just silt up the river and will shorten what is left of our coho season, lets enjoy the few remaining days we have left on the Chilliwack. Vedder.

We are trying to deal with this gravel issue. We have a meeting this weekend, this is a continuation of our group that worked on the fiasco at Big Bar nearly 2 years ago. As many know I sit on a Cabinet Minister's Riding Association and I try my best at keeping them accountable. :-\

but it is good to hear that the gravel is coming from stored piles and not currently from the riverbed.... though.... it was the riverbed at one time

Someone on the river was caiming the natives had a 3 day opening on the fraser and that since then, no fresh fish had been mving in...this would be eveident in that a hole BP and I like to fish in the lower end had 1 coho hooked amoungst 10 fishers...no springs, chum, etc even showing.  same story mid river too.  except ther were a few more showing.  I fished a pool that I saw a few coho, lots of springs and tons of chum in and I couldnt get a bite for the life of me.  I think this system may have given these fish lock jaw!  I know bass fishermen really watch barometric changes...maybe it affects salmon too?

How many more fish do the First Nation need?  Compared to last year, it is fairly slow for big springs and chum.  this is evident by the campground being empty and hotel guests leaving frustrated.  When someone can completely shut down a fishery for a few days by their actions, they are in my opinion taking too many fish.
