Maui, Kihei beach fishing

Not bad fishing here. Standing on the beach you can get Mahi Mahi, and on a good day, a small Tuna.

I wish I was there on the vedder, in the cold, and rain, catching smelly springs......not!

What smelly spring? But I will trade my 4 chrome coho for just a day in the beach there, fish or not.  ;D  If you are lucky, you may even catch a giant Ulua.

when i was in maui last february  everyone was fishing with spin casting reels. just bait and a bobber. go to hookipa beach and fish from shore there. if you are there on the right day you can watch some of the most amazing surfing around as well. the surf on the break was around 5 metres  :o :o :o and if you have been to tofino and surfed there you know haw large that actually is. amazing site to see the locals shred these waves, and guys were getting alot of fish as well.

heres hookipa beach

Mahi Mahi and tuna from the beach ??? in the Molokai Channel more like it. Nice photos dereke , bait casters are used there with a good cast into the surf.

thanks for the info, good to get away from the cold for a while, and back in time for some good steelheading! have fun out there and save a few for me.
