Victim likely gobbled

A diver poking around Burrard Inlet on Sunday discovered some bones that he thought were suspicious.

He attached a marker buoy to the spot and went ashore, where he called police.

Const. Tim Fanning said yesterday the diver and members of the RCMP dive team later returned to the spot and located the bones.

They were determined to be turkey bones that had been discarded in the inlet. "It turns out foul play was a part of it," Fanning said with a chuckle.

When asked for the gobbler's probable cause of death, Fanning quipped: "Thanksgiving."
