Trout theft at Como Lake
« on: May 05, 2008, 10:53:33 PM »

Well me & Lisa and her friend Kelsey decided to go for a walk and have some icecream at como lake. We got there went for a walk and this made the highlight of our outing:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXGN7IZ37fA

An osprey stealing a dudes raimbow trout by his face as he was reeling it in. I've never seen this before but I'm sure lots of you have similar stories like this. We were fortunate to catch it on film because my friend kelsey started filming to see the trout be pulled in.

Here is a pic of the ospreys home up in the tree which was right behind and above the floating dock:

After this, I believe the osprey fed the hungry chicks which were crying like crazy and went fishing again in other parts of the lake.

How many of you had something similar to this happen?

You can stretch right up and touch the sky
When the weather's fine
You got women, you got women on your mind
Have a drink, have a drive
Go out and see what you can find

It happens a friend of mine once had his fish grabbed by a Loon. Gave him a great fight until the leader broke. Myself I had a Heron try to steel one my fish on the Thomson, would have made some great film footage for U-Tube.

The same thing happened to my granfather and I when we were fishing off of texada island about 10years ago. My Gradfather was reeeling in a Small spring that popped up to the surface 50yards or so behind our boat., A Bald eagle swooped down and the real battle was on. Picture someone trying to reel in a Bird in the air. Neither of them won as the fish popped off both the hook and the Eagle, landing back into the water.......
IT is a memory of my gradfather that will be forever burned in my head.. what a great day..

Very Cool!
Years ago I hook a Seagull who grab my bait before it sank, felt terrible for the guy cause the hook ended up in his leg.
When I finally got the Gull in he tore up a few fingers >:(
