Fraser end of June
« on: July 02, 2008, 09:33:38 AM »

Camped out at the Fraser on the last weekend of June until the 1st of July and holy snikies was it hot hot hot in the valley  8) . Fishing was a bit slow however we seen 6 springs landed all within the new regs . Lots of Sockeye bullets jumping , a Sturgeon came up and gave us a show . We had a few good hits on our rods but I think they were fish probably just bouncing off the line down below . I finally got a good hit and the fight was on and the battle won me this beauty 16 lb . spring . My buddy fishonsteelheader got into one later on that afternoon , got it to the bar and the spring did a roll and spat the hook . All and all it was a good weekend . The skeeter were nasty though ,  :o , we went through three bottles of deet .  ;D .

Nice fish indeed. Congrats. So is the fish within the new regulation? It is hard to equate length max of 77 cm to weight for most people.  :)

That fish measured 29 inches fork length  . btw  77 centimeter = 30.314 960 63 inch. 8) or 30 and 5/16 '' roughly

Beauty. At 29 inches or 73.6 cms , if the fish stuck out his tongue you would have to throw it back.

Latest fisheries notice on this Chinook restriction:

http://www-ops2.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/xnet/content/fns/index.cfm?pg=view_notice&lang=en&DOC_ID=110210&ID=recreational

I am not sure where Seaton River is. Is this a new additional area where the length restriction applies or does this area restriction replaces the old notices?

Does this restriction apply to the river section between Mission Bridge and Hope where most of the LML fishermen fish? If it does not apply, does that mean there is no length restriction for this river section except those standard stuffs in the regulation booklet? Or does this mean the earlier blanket restriction on 77 cm max still stands for all sections of the Fraser with the latest area being an addition? Can some one who is better at reading legal codes clarify the confusion?  ;D

By the way, by fork length, does this mean measuring from the mouth to the fork of the tail and not the whole tail?
