Ved July 23rd
« on: July 23, 2008, 08:36:48 PM »

Well decided to hit the Ved today
I got there around 8.30 and tried i spot around mid river
When i got there i was supprised to see i was the only one there as it is a good run
i baited up with some roe and started from the top of the run
Three casts in and float goes down
Well i guess i was still a bit sleepy and i missed it
So i let it run through the same spot and down it goes again
This time i am ready and set the hook
All i feel is head shaking so i know i have a Spring on
After a few minutes of head shaking and small runs i get a glimpse of a slightly dark spring
I hold it in the current to tire it a bit then i manage to get it to the shallows where i unhook and set free
It was about a 10lb doe (sorry forgot the camera)
I fish there for a couple of hours with out any more bites so i move up river
I bait up at this location and it is tough fishing as the flow is fast in most of the run
but on about the fifth cast my float goes through the run and pauses just where i want it to
and down it goes
I strike and oh big head shakes
It takes a run to faster water but i manage to hold it
i get it back into the middle of the river and hold it for a bit
Then i see its tail
Big fish
i takes a few more runs for the fast current but i get it back to the middle
Then one big splash and it spits the hook
I get joined in the run by two guys (flossers)
Then just as i am finishing a drift i get another hit right at one of the guys feet
A Few head shakes a quick run and it spits the hook
Oh well thats fishing for you
The river is looking great right now
Visability where i was 2-3 feet
Not many people out there today

Too high, go to mid river as a better chance at a chinook and besides tons of steelhead smolts that will rob you blind of your bait in the Lower sections.
