Chilliwack River July 31
« on: August 02, 2008, 05:53:32 PM »

I went out for the first time for chinook up river with two friends around 8:30 am.  Day was looking good.  We fished behind the Prison first and got into Sox right away.  What a riot.  I was using Pro Cure Prawns and the crazy sox were chasing them as I was reeling in.  I hooked 4 landed 3 in mint condition.  Couldn't believe how silver and fresh they were yet so far up the river.  My buddies each got one and lost one.  Went down to Allison area and fished the pools but nothing. Went to the run below and started to hit Springs. I got one about 20 lbs in decent shape and released it. My buddies hooked two and landed one about 10 lbs getting a bit red but wanted it for smoker.
Fished some more and hit a couple more sox on blades.  One was about 8 lbs and went absolutely beserk on me.  Water skiing on top of the water back and forth across the pool, then a couple in the air acrobatics.  Powerful fish for their size.  Fished til about 3 pm then headed home.
It was a good day.  NOTE: I picked up about $5.00 in beer cans and bottle on the Allison Pools.  Can't believe the mentallity of people. Every trip I pick up half a green bag of bottles and cans. Also, picking up plastics along the river too.  I think we need more signs on the river banks and some retired military security volunteers patroling the rivers these days.....give them tazors, paint ball guns and sling shots......might keep people from littering and breaking into vehicles.
Life is good, and the good give life.

Thanks for cleaning up after the slobs. It's hard to keep doing when you know it will be right back there again. Hopefully your graced with a decent fish for your efforts. :)

Sounds like an awesome day...were there many people on the river or did you pretty much have it to yourselves??

Hey Rod thanks for the great day on the flow. Your company and knowledge was much appreciated. Was sure nice to finally feel the bend and tug on the new Sage and Milner. Was too bad I didn't hook the springs on them... Next time!

There were a few fishers out but not too many.  Hawg Hunter and a newby to river fishing went with me.  It was a good day together.  Good friendship and good fishing time as well.
