The 2008 South Coast Salmon IFMP (Intergraded Fisheries Management Plan)
outlines Interior Fraser Coho conservation measures for the Fraser River. The
dates for implementing the closures are adjusted each year to reflect the dates
of the September long weekend. The following notice reflects the dates for
Coho conservation closure outlined in the 2008 South Coast Salmon IFMP.
The following measures will be implemented to protect Thompson and upper Fraser
River coho:
Effective 00:01 hours September 17, 2008 until 23:59 hours December 31, 2008 on
waters of the Fraser River in Region # 3 and waters of the Thompson River from
the confluence of the Fraser River upstream to the outlet of Kamloops Lake, you
may not fish for salmon.

Notes:
The aggregate daily limit for all species of Pacific Salmon (other than
kokanee) from tidal and non-tidal waters combined is four (4).
Barbless hooks are required when fishing for salmon in tidal and non-tidal
waters of British Columbia. This includes all species of fish in the Fraser
River.
Sport anglers are reminded to participate in the voluntary Salmon Sport Head
Recovery program by labelling and submitting heads from adipose fin-clipped
Chinook salmon. Recovery of coded-wire tags from adipose fin-clipped chinook
salmon provides critical information for coast wide stock assessment. For
