Sliding weight setup
« on: October 04, 2008, 06:17:43 PM »

Having a sliding weight setup, is the bait supposed to be on the surface of the water
or is the weight supposed to be at the bottom of the surface and my hook + bait just above it floating
mine bait is always along the surface is this correct or incorrect

Sounds to me like your leader is too long, or your float depth isn't set deep enough.

ur leader should be 2ft long, and if u dont have a float ur sliding weight is gonna snag up alot, throw a float on there and u'll see how fast ur hook and bait get down to the fish, and how fast u'll hook fish

If your fishing lafarge then do not use a float and forget about the sliding weight. Just use a fixed weight with a 2 foot leader. You want your bait to be just off bottom and I mean just. The trout like it that way.

does anyone ever target the carp in lafarge? i bet they fight harder than the trout that get put in.
