Is the Fall run decimated as well?
« on: October 15, 2008, 12:37:40 PM »

Where are all the fish??

Albion Test is showing fewer Coho and Chinook,  but 1,000 more Chum for 2008 than this time last year.  (30 days up to date)  By this time of year we normally can't keep Chum off the hook.  There's sometimes so many they get dorsal hooked even when short floating.

They don't seem to be at Stave, or Harrison, or in the Chedder.  Is there some black hole just above mission that they are all getting pulled in to?

For the Vedder, coho numbers seem to down by the niumbers caught by our group as 5 of us have only landed 7 adults to date, lots of fresh chum now, chinooks and coho jacks were strong for a while but are finished now, fresh ones that is. I think the coho season is and will be a bust this year.

I was out on the vedder this morning from first light until noon.  I saw a ton of fresh chum in the system.  Managed to hook and release about 6 of them for the time I was there.  They were all shiny and ocean fresh.  I think they finally hit the system big time with the last big rain we had.

Well I've landed a lot of coho jacks this year but only 1 adult so far. Not that they aren't in there, but I really haven't seen or heard of a whole lot being taken. Seemed to be a good number of Chinook this year just from what I saw and I've hit spots that have had quite a few chum in them but haven't seen a whole lot of them around everywhere like they usually are.

I've done alright myself for hookups this year but it does seem like it's been slower then previous years.

There is a tall church across the street from the statue

with crosses, steeples, bells and a vast door that looks like

a huge mousehole, perhaps from a Tom and Jerry cartoon,

and written above the door is "Per L'Universo."

Around five o'clock in the afternoon of my cover for

Trout Fishing in America, people gather in the park across

the street from the church and they are hungry.

It's sandwich time for the poor.

But they cannot cross the street until the signal is given.

Then they all run across the street to the church and get

their sandwiches that are wrapped in newspaper.

Well coho fishing has definaly not been the best i have seen,  But i am happy with how i have done.   I have caught 5 coho in the last 3 weeks, 4 of them being hatchery.  Already better then last year where i only caught 4 all year. (2007)

The year before that was the best yet as i caught 21 coho for one season.(2006)

In 2005 i think i caught around 10 fish for the season.
