Chilliwack River, October 21st 2008
« on: October 21, 2008, 08:37:02 PM »

last trip out was oct 10, it was a good day into 5 coho. today I fished the same  runs and was into only one coho, no other hits in four hours of fishing. beautiful day not as crowded  as earlier in the month. on my way to mid river there was only one car at wilson rd. on oct 10 their was at least 20 cars. the fish I caught today was a fresh 6/8 lb hatchery doe . tomorrow i will be taking my 87 year old dad out trolling in the dewdney slough. he started to take me fishing with him to the vedder in the early sixties. always stopped at freds old store on the river for coffee. as  a kid it was an amazing place to be. back then the prison was just over the tamahi bridge, I can remember the inmates coming out to watch him land steelhead. the gravel road went  from the tamahi bridge back to freds, right past the armies firing range . the good old days

I had to be in Chilliwack yesterday evening for a meeting so I decided to fish the afternoon until dark. The solitude was really enjoyable, until Bwi Bwi bumped into me. ;D Only a few chum salmon were hooked by me and they were not in good shape, unlike the ones I caught last week, so all of them went back to spawn.
