Thought I would head out for the second time this year. The first wasn't so successful, after an 1.5hrs of fishing my reel failed on me. Time for a new worm gear and pawl. So after getting some new parts from Stryker Rod and Reel I was ready to tackle it once again. Destination was mid river. Some very nice water but the clarity wasn't the greatest, so I new it wasn't going to be an easy task to hook a fish. Did a lot of walking and exploring this trip. Found some nice water to fish next week. I walked into one spot that just looked prime. Threw on a new roe sack, tossed it out and watched it drift. Waiting in anticipation of a bite like we always do, the float went down, for a split second I thought was that a bite so I raised my rod and felt a head shake. It's a fish, I thought to myself this is it, my first steel of the year. The fish made a few runs but I hadn't seen it yet but it had some good weight to it. Then it started coming in slowly and popped out of the water, their it was, a Chum, so I slowly eased it in and gently released it back into the flow to let it finish it's journey. Not what I was really looking for, but still satisfied to catch something. That was it for me. What great day on the river in the sun doing what I love.
Cheers
