Squamish hatchery steelhead non retention
« on: January 14, 2009, 07:00:44 PM »

Hello all,

This has been posted on the BC Environment fishing regulations web site. As of Jan 9, 2009 all hatchery steelhead are now required to be released. These are the fish that are returning from the fish culture program that was undertakenon Cheakamus steelhead after the CN Rail spill in 2005. These fish are not intended for a kill fishery but to help rebuild the brood years that were virtually wiped out by the caustic soda spill into the Cheakamus.
