2008/2009 Wally Hall Junior Memorial Derby: Catch your winning steelhead

Don't put away your river fishing gear just yet, the Chilliwack River winter steelhead season is approaching fast! Fred's Custom Tackle will once again be hosting the annual Wally Hall Junior Memorial Steelhead Derby. This seasonal derby starts on December 1st 2008 and ends on March 31st 2009.

Derby entry is $10 per angler. You must enter before you begin fishing. Fish brought to the store without your entry will not be counted.

Prizes are awarded to top three weights. Top angler will receive $1,000 and of course the trophy. Second place will receive a rod and reel combo. Third place will receive a fishing vest.

Store hours:

Monday - Saturday: 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM
Sunday: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM

Please remember that you must purchase a steelhead conservation stamp when fishing for steelhead. Only one hatchery marked steelhead can be retained. Once you catch your hatchery steelhead, you must stop fishing for the day and record your catch on the back of your fishing license.

Wasnt the derby last year 20 bucks?
Maybe we could have a little derby on this site, just for fun.
post a photo of a hatchery fish with measured length and width, and newspaper date?
Just an idea.

Not sure. I was half-asleep when the store phoned me so may have the entry fee wrong. If someone finds out that it is $20, then please correct me.

Rick will be hosting the Trophy Hunter Steelhead Derby once again in January, which has been well attended by forum members in the past. Information will be available very soon.

There's also the Boxing Day steelhead derby. That information will also be available very soon.

Chris just phoned to file his daily report as usual. "The Master" just weighed in a fish at over 18lb, making it the largest in the derby so far. ;D
