Lafarge Lake, April 5th 2009
« on: April 05, 2009, 09:37:36 PM »

had an interesting day out on lafarge. Yesterday was by far more productive but i managed to land a few today including a nice broodstock and odly enough a kokenee wich is always interesting and kind of funny to see in that lake. fished with bren in the morning and i think he did quite well in the morning. we fished olive flys out of our tubes.

heres some pics...

the kokanee

yes it slowed right down and was dead for the last few hours i was there. might be the heat there was a guy with a finder that had said the water had gone up in temprature very quickly. i think there are fish there but the lake needs stocking which is about due to happen, hopefully some day this week.

This lake has already recieved more fish then any other lake in the greater Vancouver area so there are still fish in there. Check the stocking reports and you will see how many have already been put in there.

2000 fish and not many getting caught
what is happening to these fish
This is such a small lake too
I know there is an otter in there and i am sure he is not alone
then there are the Ospreys and the Eagles
A few fishermen\women taking  4 a day

How about 30 fishermen\women take 4 fish a day x 14 days = 1680
Osprey and Eagle take 4 a day x 14 =112
the otter takes 4 a day x 14 = 56
20 die of natural causes

so in two weeks there are 1868 fish gone that just leaves 132 fish spread throughout the lake :-\

My latest report i fished it Tuesday for a couple of hours and only hooked one fish, not many caught on shore that i seen

Hit the lake today
Guess they stocked it again
i was fishing with chironamids and it was hot at times then after about two hours the bite went off
i changed to a black and red leech and hooked into a few more
Seen two broodies landed and bonked
will be there in the morning 8)

You were putting on a pretty good show with the chironomids for a while. I thought that I was having a good day hooking 12 or so fish, you must have been into 20 or more!

Yeh i did get quite a few also lost lots too
I was using my own tied chironamids too
it allways make it a better day when you hook fish on your own flies
