Fishing from Gordon Bay campground, Lake Cowichan
« on: May 25, 2009, 04:54:42 PM »

Has anyone ever fished from there on the shore or via boat/canoe?  Any success?  What did you catch?

Any where fairly near (i.e. canoeing distance) this campground then, as Lake Cowichan is "known for its spectacular fresh-water fishing" (according the BC Parks website page for this campground!)?

Fish the creek mouths thats your best bet.  Good rainbow fishing if you can locate them.

Thanks.

It sounds like you have experience fishing on Cowichan lake.  What technique (with a spinning rod) would you recommend for mid-June fishing?

Sorry no experience with a spinning rod on that lake. I only fly fish lakes.

If I were to guess though I would stick to your basic trout lures and you should be fine. If your going mid-June they will probably be a bit deeper. In the morning and evening, fish shallow and in the mid-morning, afternoon fish in 20 feet+
