lac le jeune

hey guys, just wondering what tips you have for lac le jeune, walloper or jacko.  i will be fly fishing out of a belly boat.  are there any other lakes nearby that you might recommend? thanks and a great long weekend!

I haven't been up to lac le jeune yet this year but I know the ice is off I am not sure if it has turned over yet. In late may there should be some hatches starting off the shoals. I would try fishing off of these shoals with bait or fly's. Try to look for the movement of bait fish or fish rising around the transition water near the shoals. I am assuming the lake has already turned over but if it hasn't and it does while your there might as well call it a day.

Here's a tip, dress warm. I've been there quite a few times and it's been cold, wet, and windy when it's sunny and hot 20 minutes away in Kamloops!

I agree, the one time I was there last year early in the summer it was quite chilly.

just got back from lac le jeune and managed to get out a few times to surrounding lakes. we didnt fish lac le jeune opting for smaller lakes nearby. we did stake and fred. stake had lots of small rainbows nailing green micros and fred was chronomids only. a guy out there was nailing 2 to 3 pounders on black and green chronomids. lesson learned, i need to learn to fish chronomids. good times though, cant wait to get back to the interior.

I went up to Lac le jeune last weekend. Lac le jeune was really windy I spent a full day and a half on the lake with not too much going on. Some people were getting fish off the shoals fishing flys. McConnel lake was in turn over so I tried Walloper lake. I got 5 fish there fishing off the shoals; they were all smaller fish but I was happy to be into something. It was really cold up there at night and I think they were expecting it to heat up a lot in the next couple days.
