Just looking for any reports on Loon Lake just past Cache Creek . Is it a good time right now and what terminal tackle is the most effective . Any info is greatly appreciated  .

Was up there 2 weeks ago. Fish jumping every minute. avg catch was 1 fish per outing and nothing to brag about. heard the main gear to use is wedding band/worm, green or red sprately, or frog flatfish. Fish caught in the top 20 feet of water. they say the fishing was slow when i was there and an avg outing for me was a couple hours.

as far as what to use, i would second the above list and add a black leech fly to the list.

Fished loon many times in the past.This time of year try medium black Doc  Spratleys trolled slowly with full sink type three or better.We also had great success with the same flies on lead lines.The resort always had a good assortment of locally tied flies.

I have a friend that goes up there every year at the end of August, first week of Sept.

He has good results going deep with lead core line.

I never asked what fly he uses but I would think a sprately would work...the main thing is he goes very deep.
