With school out and time on my hands (I'm a teacher), I FINALLY got a chance to do some fishing. Marco (steelheadking) was eager to get out to do some stillwater fishing so we made plans for a lake near kamloops. I woke early (as I always do before a fishing trip), and readied my gear and boat for the 4:30 am pickup that was planned....I waited...and waited...and waited. However, the sound of the large diesel engine of Marco's truck did not disrupt the silence of the early morning. Knowing, that Marco had been out late partying the night before, I figured at 5:15 it was time to give him a call....only to find that he was still in bed. Once awake, he must of moved fast, as he was at my house and we were loaded in no time.
ready to hit the road...all be it much later than expected
After the long drive, over some rough roads we arrived at the lake. I surveyed the lake shore for signs of life and found it EVERYWHERE...this was a very rich lake and the shoreline was full of shrimp and other tasty trout meals. Every rock I fliped had a number of these under it
Marco immediately set out to fishing
It took a while to get dialed in...but after the first fish, a throat pump, and some searching through the several hundred chronomids that Marco and I had prepared for the trip....we started to get into fish...and the action was pretty much non-stop all afternoon. Marco stopped counting netted fish after 25...so it was fantastic action. I was not quite as busy, but was into many fish as well. Although the fish were not huge, and ranged between 16-18 inches, they were VERY hard fighting fish...and very aerobatic. I did manage to hook one monster, that went to my backing twice, and completely cleared the water 9x. I lost that fish at the boat, while tending to another fish on my other rod (DAMN...isn't that always the way...get a double header when you have the largest fish of the trip on!!)...
Sadly, the darkness began to descend...and it was time to set up our camp, and prepare dinner. Fish were rising everywhere due to a cadis hatch, and it was HARD to come off the lake...but I made a mental note, that tomorrow night I would get into some dry fly action.
After a HUGE breakfast, Marco and I went down to laungh the boats and begin another day of fishing. During the night, hundreds of these guys took residence under our boats, and it was a bit of a mad scramble when the boats were moved.
The next day was similar to the first....chonnie action from moring till late afternoon, then some cool dry fly action in the evening. Drop a elk hair cadis along the weedline, and you were bound to hook up....very exciting!!!

So final count...2 guys, 2 days fishing, just under 100 fish netted (all released). An excellent trip.
