The fishing is definitely not as hot and fast as last week, which is not really unusual. Based on previous seasons, it always seems to slow down a bit after the initial rush of fish. Commercial opening begins, taking out large masses of fish and the hunting game for scattered schools begin in mid September. Yesterday we intercepted a small number of fish briefly, missing a few bites while Nina managed to keep a fish on for a short while.

Today we fished the last two hours of the incoming tide again and there appeared to be more fish surfacing, but still not enough to result in consistent bites. Vince managed to hook three and landed one of them. His dad hooked and lost two. My dad briefly hooked one, while Nina hooked and landed a rather large female after it attempted to grab the lure several times before being hooked near the rod tip. I spent most of the time filming so did not end up getting a bite.

Water clarity seems to have degraded slightly but it is still very reasonable for spincasting.

I concur that things are alot slower than last week.
Stopped by the south arm around 1pm today.  Stayed for about 15 minutes.  Didn't see a single fish.

Rodney, are the pinks that are flopping around on the slow side stretches of the Fraser moving through or just hanging out? They are jumping everywhere but nothing really biting most the time.

Spent a few hours fishing this evening on the south arm.  Had a few bites during the outgoing tide but was not able to get a good hook set.  At about 6:30 I got a solid connect with a big male.  He fought well but the hook held.

Good to see that you are still getting them down there Aurora, it just shows that persistence would usually pay off.

Tonight, we returned to the same spot where we fished this morning only to find the crowding condition rather unbearable because some saw large number of fish last night. Despite of an enthusiastic crowd, no fish were sighted or hooked. One should remember that the fishing result changes from day to day. They may run through an area in one day, but none choose to come through on the next day. I watched Nina and my dad fished there briefly without wetting a line before we moved to another spot with Vince and Fishersak. The dusk bite came on briefly but none of us managed to hook up.

There are definitely fish still coming in during each incoming tide right now, just not in great numbers. A bit of exploring and patience would pay off.

Well to my surprize when we boated into the high waves across the south side of the river DIRECTLY across from Steveston I literally seen schools of fish travelling with the waves ....they were just under the surface of the wave 6-8 fish in the schools.... Seen a school every 6-10 sec. or so as we crossed the river SO that makes for ALOT of fish but they are travelling on the south side of the river.  Ya can possibly not see much on the other side near Gerry Pt Pk but across the river there must of been 1000's of pink (6-8 fish in the school every 10 sec. makes for alot of fish IF it stayed that way for a great deal of time or maybe it just stayed that way for a few minutes....I just wanted to get out of the big waves as it was just too rough going for a 16 ft boat. (yesterday this happened SO possibly still lots of pinks around yet for us Richmond fishers)

Fished on South arm this evening with my nephew and nobody seemed to be getting into anything.  It's definitely slowed down.

Much to my surprise I did hook into one when nobody else appeared to be having much luck.  I handed my rod to my nephew to give him his first go at landing a Salmon and I think he was hyperventilating with the excitement.   Fortunately he stayed calm enough to bring it in gently near the shore but it eventually turned and made a dash which he wasn't ready for and the hook popped out 

Thats fishing and an experience he won't forget.  I was just glad to give him the opportunity before the whole thing dies off.

Rod, I arrived as the earliest guy there today (at around 4pm).  Another guy showed up 10 minutes later, and while he was setting up his gear, i had my first fish on.  It was a Doe and she spat the hook close to the rocks.  5 minutes later, i had another on, the guy walked by with his net and tried helping me to land the fish.  A Buck this time and again the hook popped while he was about to be netted.....   0 of 2 in the first half an hour of fishing.  That was why I asked u for more spoons today.

I have found the fish are sub surface and aren't jmping as much. I had four guys fishing beside me a couple of days ago with nothing jumping but they managed there limit. The odd one would jump but that was it

Fly fishing the lower Fraser on the 11th, and agree the numbers of pinks moving has definately dropped as fewer fish are moving and longer wait times between schools. Steely is right the fish are deeper and even though you don't see any surface action they are there only deeper and very near the bottom. Used a heavier sink tip and managed to get 4 keepers even though there was no splashing or risers when I hooked them. Size of pinks I encountered are of a larger run averaging about 1-2 lbs larger than last weeks fish. I would say they may be Vedder pinks as they tend to be a bigger pink.

got my 2 in a couple of hours but lost others as well. lower fraser. plenty of fish around as they were at times boiling up the water with fins. the most i've seen in about the last 4-5 days. 1 fish had net marks on it as well. left just before 12:00 as the wind started to come up.
