Mouth of the Vedder Sept 26 2009
« on: September 26, 2009, 07:25:45 PM »

Made it to the mouth of the Vedder by boat today.  The navy was already in place, we made our way past the boundary in hopes of Coho.  We caught and released 20+ pinks each.  Surprisingly not one doe.

Good day even though busy.

40 pinks and no does? When buck pinks are super clean the humps on there back are at a minimum unlike the humps they get closer to spawning.

I had a similar experience. I got into about 60+ fish and only 2 were does.

I was driving over the Vedder canal on Hwy 1 this afternoon. Anyone know how to access the dykes near the canal ?

you can access the dykes from Keith Wilson Rd. you can also access the dyke by the highway bridge by getting off at the Yale Rd. exit and taking Yale rd WEST back towards the river.

you can also take the exit on the Abbotsford side of the canal on HWY 1 and take it back towards the Sumas river. not sure which exit that is.

try taking a look at Mapquest or Google earth to see  ;)
