Night fishing on the vedder
« on: September 24, 2009, 09:05:12 PM »

For the past couple of nights I have been returning to chilliwack from abbotsford around 9 oclock at night and noticed cars parked near the keith wilson bridge, every night wondering what they could be doing there. So tonight I decided to stop and check it out I walked out on the bridge and sure enough there were over ten guys fishing down there by the light of the street lamps on the bridge.Im no dfo or nothing but isnt it illegal to fish at night.Every one should go check it out though quite entertaining just snaggin those fish.No I didnt call it in Ive called in to many fishing violations this year with no response.

makes sense, I showed up there about two weeks ago, for first light and there were two guys there who were bottom bouncing the hole, it seemed like they had been fishing for the better part of the night, because they left at about 5 am

Always report it. DFO officers and COs cannot always attend all the reported infractions, but they do their best if they are in the area and not tied up with other infractions.

The alternative, ie. watching violators as a form of entertainment, would only hurt ourselves further in the long run.

Is all this talk about illegal fish bad to do on the internet???

Like people won't read this and realize that there is barley-no enforcement on the rivers and the more posts about people complaining about these events going on and on and on more prof that there is no enforcement.

I'd think that all you people that post about this stuff with no articles of recent busts are doing more damage IE advertising that there is no enforcement.

I'm not saying I agree with what's going on and not trying to knock anyone, but come'on people, adversting it to the world that nothing is being done is adding to the problem!

Those that know(poachers) know, but those who didn't know now know there is little to no risk of getting caught.

The BC Freshwater Fishing Regulation Synopsis only applies to general freshwater fisheries. For salmon fisheries, which is regulated federally, anglers must check DFO's freshwater salmon regulation supplement.

Regularly as it does change allot especially right now with coho.

Check it before you go out as I had people thinking I was poaching pinks when in fact the rules were just put out and they didn't check that day.  >:(   Dummies ::)

10 years ago it was legal to fish at night on the Vedder.
they needed to make the change, it was to hard to patrol.

Video tape them and post it on Youtube. Then email it to the DFO. See what they do after that.
