whereismyfloat - make sure ya get your hook sizes right buddy
a size 4 is the smallest size hook we use for salmon fishing. Im pretty sure you meant a 4/0 which is a huge hook unless your bar fishing the fraser for springs
I jjust wanted to point that so it doesnt confuse people. Of yourse that doesnt mean you cant floss with little hooks. Flossing/long lining/snagging is not a hard technique to master and actually is easier to do with short leaders rather then long ones.
The way to tell if you flossed the fish is if the hook is on the outside of the mouth from the opposite side from you with the hook point pointing inwards, if the hook is inside the mouth on your side with hook point facing outwards. of course when i say opposite you and stuff i mean the way the fish facing upstream in the current.
but hey when they bite it alot of the time the hook gets baried in the corners of the mouth but the hook point will be facing from inside to outside. If you get a biting fish short floating more times then any the fish will be hooked near the front area and in the boney area of the mouth where the teeth are and along the edges of the mouth but hardly ever in the corners of the mouth.
