Stave River, October 22nd 2009
« on: October 22, 2009, 08:50:02 PM »

Fished the Stave today just outside the toilet bowl from 7:30 am till Noon.  Lots of chum around landed about 9 myself.  Lost three big guys as my line snapped above the float.  I got lucky and hooked back into two fish with my floats still on them.

The CO's were up at the river and they have finally put up fishing boundary signs on the spawning channel.  I hope it has some effect.

Did not see any spring or coho being caught.

I used pink. red and orange wool.  Just a very small amount with a #1/0 hook and a 18 inch leader below my float.

In the Stave?  The lower half is a giant log dump for a mill.  Doesn't detract from access or fishing though.  Provides a little structure on bright days.

At work, heard many stories today when customers rolled in. Couldnt help but laugh my head off when they told the story of snagging on the log at the stave repeatedly customer after customer. After 4 hours later, a lady comes in to buy some spinners. She told me she's lost couple of blue foxes, then she said on a log. So confidently said, your fishing the stave huh?.. Mind Freak? Sounds like the little fishies got a little shelter from the few coyotes that stroll around there  :D Good on them fishes. Log added another 2% survival rate and loss of $$ on tackle
