I was at the stave this morning again for a couple of hours. I got into about 10 fish with almost all in the lips. A couple of fouls too but there is no doubt Chum like the jigs.

With the gauntlet of nets throughout the entire Fraser I doubt you will see many fresh fish for a couple days.

If you haven't had a hoop shot on the Stave, you really haven't fished it.

Fly fished the stave this morning and got some nice coho and a fresh chum. There will not be many around after todays netting.

I had one decent doe that I kept to smoke. Other than that, the best word to describe the day was "moldy". I didn't see any coho being taken but heard of a few.

Agreed, I have been catching them exclusively on jigs or with purple/pink wool.  Last year I was getting them on blades, almost exclusively - don't know why I haven't been able to fish blades successfully this year (..maybe its just because the jigs have been doing so well I haven't been giving the blades as much of a chance)

Last year I caught almost exclusively males - 1 female.
This year it has been the other way round - almost exclusively females.  Just two males.  [Not just on one day - I have been out there multiple times]

Have any of you noticed the same thing?

I woke up early and decieded to head out to the stave to play with some chum i arraived around 7:45 tried floating a few different colors with no luck so i clipped on a colorado to try with still no luck while i watched a snagger land a few fish. Finally i deciede to try some hardware (ive been stocking up big time) so on goes a large blue fox after a few casts i hook up and off races a giant chum i get the fish near me and notice shes foul hooked just behind the gill plate i quickly pop the hook and send her away.After batteling a few more fish my arms are feeling the effects so i take a minute to examine my setup checkin my line,knot ect.I start casting again up stream to let my spinner ride the flow when the "snagger" starts tellin me to not cast up stream near him.After i tell him that i know how to fish and obviously im not casting over his setup he hooks into another boot and of course drags it on shore to molest it i deciede to change to my favorite spoon a gold hammered croc then cast in his sopt since he was busy with the boot and BAM fish on i feel the fish thrashing violently and figure i got another foul hooked boot  and as soon as that thought crossed my mind i see a silver bullet shoot out of the water a few feet then my heart really started racing the fight was ferocious  i figured i had a spring and just started praying the fish would stay on then switched to praying it was a hatch fish at that point i started yelling for a net which nobody had around so i tired the fish out some more then pulled her to shore and pin her in a ju jitsu move i notice she is clipd ed so im lookin for something to bonk her but theres nothing within reach so a nice gentleman  who was fishing from shore pulls out his pocket knife and sticks her in the brain for my victory finally my first Coho and she was absolutely perfect not a single scale out of place i leave then because i had no ice chest or anything to keep her fresh.I found a bag somebody had left behind and threw her in there then went and went and bought some ice.I stopped at wal mart on the way home and bought a lil cheapo "spring scale" that said she was 11 and a half pounds and 29 inches long.I took a few pics but my cpu has some sort of virus so i cant share the pics as bad as i want  to.Im actually online on my Playstation 3 but cant figure out how to transfer my pics to here from there so if anybody does know please share how to do with me.Theres nothing like catching a new species im still pumped.The steak i had from her last night was the best dinner ive had in years i made a garlic jalapino rub and grilled it....yum.....the rest is sitting in brine right now and im gettin ready to go buy a smoker.When i get my cpu fixed or buy a new one ill put those awesome pics in the fish porn. I LOVE THE STAVE 3 trips 25 or so fish never skunked my type of river

just wondering if you are allowed to park along the side before crossing the bridge to get into the parking lot.  I was reading from before that people were getting parking tickets, is that still the case?

Maybe there is still hope for me to catch a Coho this year yet!!!   Still catching chum... at least its something...

Yep, me too.  I have yet to catch a Coho but I have such a blast playing in Chums, I get lazy about trying specifically for Coho

Was out on the Stave on Tuesday and couldnt get to the parking lot because the bridge was closed due to construction. as a result, everyone parked along 287 and no tickets. mind you they all kept way into the bush and nothing on the street. Chums jumping all over but not many caught for some reason. saw a couple of nice Cohos caught but thats it. water was low and all of us standing on the mud flats which really sucked
