I assume you mean salmon/steelhead fly. Here's a purple comet.

orange, red, black , blue are the most common. As the photo indicates, a long tail of bucktail, thin body of silver or gold and a sparse long hackle. The orginal was just that though someone soon added bead chain eyes and I guess barbells.
