Back east (Toronto / Niagara
« on: May 02, 2010, 10:00:14 PM »

I'll be heading back east for a wedding this summer (no time for fishing) but id like to find some fishing stores to poke around in. Anyone know any must see fishing stores in the area? We will be flying into Toronto and goin to Niagara on the lake for the wedding.

I've been there.  Huge store with all sorts of freshwater fishing gear, including fly stuff as well.  They have clothes and shoes and gear for hunting and other outdoor activities as well.

I'm originally from about an hour West of Toronto.  If you have the time, and enjoy fly fishing, check out Grindstone Angling in Waterdown, Ontario.  It's approximately half way between Toronto and Niagara-on-the-Lake. They have friendly staff, conduct fly tying workshops, do guided trips and have some excellent locality specific flies.  Even if you're not looking to purchase anything, they always seem content to talk strategy.

Have a great trip.

Pete's tackle in Fort Erie...not too far driving distance from NOTL.

It will give you a good feeling for the type and style of fishing in that area.

Also if you get a chance and are "in shape"...take a trip down the gorge to watch some amazing Niagara River fishing...that alone is worth the trip...just a few minutes drive from where you will be, but a steep walk up.

This will keep you busy for awhile:

Have a good trip and venture.
