Another tip:

Try to pick a spot near an inlet stream.  The inflowing water is a good source of oxygenated water and other food sources that the fish like to gather around.

Bobber fishing at Whonnock with worms should produce some crappies for sure, and maybe the odd trout that's cruising around...Fly fishing seems to be ticket at that lake, but I would definitely try bobber fishing with worms off the dock there.
